Purchasing mineral water

(That's water to the rest of us!) Beer is about 95% water, so if you want to discuss water treatment, filtering etc this is the place to do it!

Purchasing mineral water

Post by Weejock » Thu Sep 17, 2009 6:47 pm

I have been buying Sainsbury's 5lt mineral water (@ £0.93 each) for my brews, my tap water is particularly awful even after Britax filtering. Is there anywhere I can buy the large (20L i believe) mineral water bottles, full of course, that are used for office coolers?

Am I right in assuming spring water is filtered tap water and mineral water is taken from the ground?

BTW Tesco's for some reason have a limit on the amount of bottled water you can buy online...

Never been challenged in the shop with a trolley full of water.

I susupect the limit on bottles is probably down to weight restrictions imposed by the 'elf and safety' walleys.

Macro do (or did) sell large bottles of water designed for water coolers, I doubt they beat the price of ASDA water though.
I use asdA water all the time(ag#004 coming up) I've never added anything. So is it a heaped or level teaspoon? Do I add this to the hlt prior to putting in my batch sparge cooler box, you say add another to the mash as well, is that before I dough in and stirr air pockets out? Could I just add 2 to the hlt?
