cloudy and a weird taste
Hi every one glad to be here, new to the brewing business,my first brew was coopers mexican, followed by geordie lager both brewed in may, both are still cloudy and im getting a weird aftertaste,i used pet bottles both 1 and 2 litre, have the brown bottles now, what did i do wrong, used bke on both well carbonated but the aftertaste is not the best,my buddies say its ok but it isnt, any help?

Re: cloudy and a weird taste
How old is it and how would you describe the aftertaste? A tip on tastes, is to belch after a slug and often the off-tastes will be more pronounced in the belch than when tasting it first.
Re: cloudy and a weird taste
Depend on many things, fermentation & conditioning temperatures, cleanliness of bottles, time spent conditioning. I did the Mexican recently, bottled it to PET bottles, and it cleared nicely. did have a slight twang, but ny fault for trying it after only 3 weeks conditioning. One bottle had a weird taste, but that was because that particular bottle wasn't squeaky clean.
Re: cloudy and a weird taste
I've done four Coopers lagers and they all cleared within days. In fact they cleared so quickly that in clear bottles I could the yeast at work on secondary fermentation - it looked like smoke in the bottle.
Re: cloudy and a weird taste
Thanks so far guys, some of the boys are saying the taste is a little soapy????????Cant really describe it,also some ofthe bottles upon opening doesnt really hold the head for long,I think ive ruined the brew with the plastic bottles, never again, but the main thing is its so cloudy, the mexican was brewed in may, even brews ive done since in the last 6-8 weeks are cloudy, any ideas????????

Re: cloudy and a weird taste
If it tastes soapy then maybe you're not cleaning and rinsing the bottles well enough? How are you cleaning them?
