Help with carbonation please

Post by jpsscott » Tue Sep 22, 2009 1:51 pm

I have just finished the fermenation process with a 'Geordie' larger kit. I then added a pack of fillings and left for two days to clear. Then i syphoned the cleared beer into a pressure vessel leaving behind the sediment. Then added 2.5 ounces of sugar to the pressure barrell. Have i made a mistake by taking away the sendiment before adding to the preesure barrell? Will there by enough yeast in the cleared product to reactivate the second fermentation to carbonize my beer. Any help is much appreciated.

There should be enough yeast suspended in the beer to carbonate, it may take longer though. I don't use finings with any kit I just wait for it to clear while it's conditioning.
