Which treatment brings out the Malt?

(That's water to the rest of us!) Beer is about 95% water, so if you want to discuss water treatment, filtering etc this is the place to do it!

Which treatment brings out the Malt?

Post by WishboneBrewery » Sun Sep 27, 2009 3:19 pm

I seems to remember something said on here about, Calcium Chloride maybe for bringing out the malt flavours more.

Would the Stout profile in the GW Calc be made to bring the malts to the fore?

cheers :)

Calcium chloride will increase the perception of sweetness on the tongue and makes a harder water as well as lowering the PH of the mash, for an extra malty taste I like to use some Munich malt, works for me.
