Re: Blesseds Big Stout
Looks good,
.
Should be ok considering how far nottinghams normally attenuates, Mr Malty recomends 1.3. So its not too far off.

That sugar should help it along too. Yes I'll stick to one well prepared notty.
Re: Blesseds Big Stout
Have fun with it!
(I'm still trying to decide whether to brew or not. I think I'll fill up my HLT and put the heat on anyway.....)

Do it! That 1214 has bags of yeasty character. It masks everything if fermented at a high temp.

Gone for 35g of cascades and 40g of EKG with a boil of 75 minutes. It was just what what was open in the freezer. First worted them and will bung the sugar in in the final few minutes to maximise the IBUs. No 10 minute hops, but might dry hop.....?

Well set up the boiler and furnace outside. Then the heavens opened. Good thing I do a bit of course fishing. I knew them brolleys would come in handy for something.
I have taken some photos... will post later.

All over at four o'clock. Missus on the way back from work, so all the mess and the effin and blindin has happily slipped under the radar. Smells really nice, think it will be a cracker.
Just hope the nottingham will do the biz. Only used it once before, and it was responsible for the worst beer I made that was drinkable. Fingers crossed.

Hit a 77% eff. 22.5L of 1.064. So all in all a good day.
My brewing brolly.

Stepped up the temp on boiling to try and reduce quite a long boil length.

A nice colour. Smells like treacle and fags! Yum.

The muck shot.

Oh dear... the nottingham is climbing out of the fermenter. Cleared some of the crud away. Constant bubbling through airlock.
This is when it was tame. Amazing yeast head.

I know what the website says, but Is this a true top fermenter, or is it just thick foam like SO4? Some times like above it looks like a top fermenter. Other times it looks foamy.

Well it escaped again last night. Sick of it now, I just want this thing to ferment sensibley.
This is only the second time I have had a yeast explosion, the first was with a stout too.
