Youngs Bitter Kit slow starting

Post by Gepa » Sun Oct 11, 2009 6:45 pm

Hi knocked up a brew yesterday posted some nice pics on brew day Forum went to check today to see how it was going and there is only a small amount of Foam there is a bit of spotting ont he lid of the FV but no vigourus foaming like I have seen in the past. The Thermomiter in the room has it posted at 18 degrees at 5pm this afternoon I am concered that the temp is too cold.

I have a heating Belt I can put on the FV would you suggest that as it seems to be not doing much at the moment or am I fussing over nothing.

If your room temp is above 18 degrees you will be OK if it falls below I would put the heat belt on, if you get one of those stick on thermomiters for your FV you can moniter the temperature of your brew better.

Thanks John.

I stuck the belt on last night and I have a room thermomiter sitting on the Lit od the FV and this morning it was reading 24 degrees so I will switch the belt off and. it is sitting with about an inch of froth but the lid it showing signs of brewing and when i crack the lid you can hear the gas escape.

Now I need to leave it alone for more than 8 hours now.
