what next?

Post by leverton10 » Mon Oct 12, 2009 6:59 pm

hi all,

ive got cooper's aussie bitter and edme's irish stout conditioning at the moment, bitter in bottles and stout in the keg as well as a few bottles i can keep back to mature for a few months.

i want to be well stocked up for christmas, and although early samples indicate that i have two top notch brews on the go, i would like to have a bigger variety.
i like most commecial ales except possibly the porter dark ales i think they're called, which i find hard to drink. bombadier, old speckled, golden ale are some of my favourites.

just wondering what would be close to these, if possible out of a wherry, edme's superbrew gold bitter, geordie mild/scottish export/yorkshire bitter, tom caxton best bitter/real ale, youngs u brew bitter......

which one would you have?

thanks, Joe

hi leverton
although i cant comment on the other brews if you notice my signature i have a taste for the wherry :D

i have done the coopers bitter and the real ale and thought they were very good, but i would say the wherrys better if you can wait a bit longer =P~

if you've got while christmas i'd say give the wherry a shot mate

thanks very much, the wherry was top of the list really, only i wondered how long it would take to condition and clear?

only kegged it up to now and its usually been clear after 3 weeks, just put one on to try in the bottle.

ive generally changed the yeast for a S04 and put a tsp of yeast nutrient in the mix, although the latest batch as been done on the previous batches yeast as an experiment.

just got the wherry on :)

it was definitely different to any other brew ive done, a lot lighter in colour compared to the stout and other bitters ive done.

seemed cloudier as well, or is it just because its lighter it would seem more obviously clouded?

smells great though, if good this could become a staple, as it is sooo cheap in wilkos!(15 squid)
i used saf 04 too, got some online the other week so i though with the reputation muntons yeast has i thought it cant hurt to use a proven yeast!

cheers
