Morgans Yukon Brown Smoked Ale
Morgans Yukon Brown Smoked Ale
Brewed this on Saturday and after 5 days (today) the reading is SG1012.
Made with 700g brewing sugar, and 400g medium dry spray malt.
Just tasted the trial jar batch and it's lovley. A very nutty, smoky flavour, very much like a roasted stout such as Guiness Red, but much cleaner and dryer than a stout.
At this point, flavour-wise, I would definatly recommend this kit.
I'll keep this thread updated with my later tasting notes.
Has anyone else got round to brewing this kit yet?

hi
you sure it is Muntons,
I thought it be Morgans

Re: Muntons Yukon Brown Smoked Ale
I'm pretty sure it is Morgans. I have the Iron Bark in my brew queue, but this one sounded interesting. Let us know how it turns out.

Re: Morgans Yukon Brown Smoked Ale
Ah thanks for pointing that out - yes it is Morgans, not Muntons!

Re: Morgans Yukon Brown Smoked Ale
Okay so here are my amature tasting notes...
The beer is dark copper in colour, and has quite a silky body. On first taste, you get a deep, dark, marmite like ale, and then a rush of smokeyness hits you... Just like how you can smoke fish, meat, cheese, the smokeyness is like that, but more subtle than food products. The beer is fairly sweet tasting, kinda like raisins, and has a malty aftertaste.
Overall I would recommend this kit ot anyone who likes something a little bit different... I did mine with 600g brewing sugar and 500g medium dry spray malt and it turned out lovely.
Had a reading of 1012 before bottling.
This was my second brew ever, going to do Admirals reserve next.
