christmas ale suggestions
christmas ale suggestions
Morning all hope your all well on this lovely sunday morning.....!
I am after doing a christmas ale for.........? you guest it and i wass thing of starting with a woodfordes nog kit and adding some bits and bats.
One suggestion is to make up a syrup from a christmas pudding and add that to the kit of add a few cinnamon sticks to the fv and see how that turns out.?
Any other suggestions on this from past experience would be great.
thanks again

How about a treacle chocolate stout? There was a recipe in the April 2007 Newsletter.
Re: christmas ale suggestions
I made this one up nigh on a month ago:
Smelled amazing- looking forward to it.
You may want to go lower gravity though to ensure maturation is OK for Xmas...
Swapped challenger for northdown and used a sachet of mulled wine spices for last 15 minutes of boil rather than asda spices...

No problems, better get it started quick, that brew takes a heck of a while to condition.

Re: christmas ale suggestions
ahh thanks Benson, roughly how long did you leave it in bottles before drinking please. I am going to start it off on friday when my first FV becomes free. I can leave the bottles in the shed for as long as needed so if is beyond new years eve before I can sample then no problems.
Just I was planning a new years eve party with most of the drinks being my home brew

Re: christmas ale suggestions
I found it to be quite suppable after around 2 months
But as of so far, it's been in bottles for about a year.
