Clear Brew ?
Re: Clear Brew ?
just tasted some of my second batch of kilju
hells teeth you can taste the alcohol content in it and it is drinkable on its own but is lots better with a mixer

Re: Clear Brew ?
The higher sugar batch didn't brew all the way out so ended up a bit on the sweet side but the alcohol is through the roof, definately "WOW" when you take a slug. I think I'll stick to the lower sugar in future though. This stuff is more like a liquer. The ladies like it with the white chocolate syrup though.

Re: Clear Brew ?
hi i'm going to try this is it best to use normal white sugar or brown(demerara)?
Re: Clear Brew ?
Bulk standard white sugar will give a perfectly clear brew. I would think any brown sugar will give a brown brew.
My last batch of Mead was made with a dark honey and is looking very amber now.

Re: Clear Brew ?
If you use the alcotec kits they are very specific about only using glucose if you want to hit the 23% that they advertise, otherwise it may not act as expected.

Re: Clear Brew ?
2Kg per gallon turned out very sweet and syruppy (if that's a word)deepinvader wrote:I've tried a few variations now and managed to get a full 2Kg of sugar into 1 Gallon DJ and ferment just about fully out using Youngs Super Wine Yeast. I'm bottling it up in 500ml bottles without a health warning for the Xmas party
Think I'll stick to 1.5 Kg per gallon from now on. Adding the flavoured syrups increases the sugar anyway

nope its still going
had a sip or two when i was re racking and hells teeth by the time this has finished it will be quite close to an apple vodka/schnapps
think the aj is making it take a lot longer ,ill re rack acouple more times and see what im left with

You're well into apple wine territory with that stuff.
Give it a few years for the alcohol to subside or drink it raw and suffer
