Cheers Bowser
I also recently discovered a cracking beer in tesco called Blackfords 1488 - it's a whisky ale matured in the oak barrells used for malt whisky. it's 7% and my girlfriend says it tasted like drinking a pint of whisky!
Aye i said and your point is caller?
Lots of questions for new brewer!
Update on first brew
I think it's bombed. Tasted it today, it's been kegged for nearly two weeks, and it tastes pretty vinegary, also, doesn't appear to have a build up of co2 at all, as when i poured it from the tap, big glugs of air were going in to replace the beer.
I reckon that using a wooden spoon didn't help (in terms of sterilisation) and I'll need to get a look at the seal on the keg.
Lessons learned though. I'll use it as a learning curve.
I don't think I took the sterilisation thing seriously enough, and I certainly didn't get much action into the wort at first, by stirring.
I should have hung about on this site for a few weeks before starting.
I've got a John Bull 3KG wheat kit to try next, and I'm a lot more clued up now.
I hope!
