Looking for Clones

Post by PaulEamonn » Sun Nov 22, 2009 6:23 pm

Hi All

I'm new to this beer making with only one brew (almost finished) under my belt and I want to get another one on the go so it is ready by the time I've finished my first one.

Sorry if this question has already been asked elsewhere on the forum. I did do a search but didn't really turn up the answers I was looking for - there again, maybe the answers aren't there to be had. So here goes...............

Like everyone I have my favourite commercial beers and would like to brew something similar at home. So does anyone know of any kits that bear a fair resemblance to any of the following.

Theakstons Old Peculier
Greene King Abbot Ale
Greene King IPA
Everards Tiger
Courage Directors

If anyone can give me a pointer to any kits I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks for any help.

Have seen Coopers Dark Ale compared with Old Pec - can't see a resemblance myself but its a very nice pint, more Hobgoblinish IMO. Woodfordes Wherry is a bit like Abbot Ale I think. Cant think of any similar matches for the others off the top of my head.
Fermenting: nowt
Conditioning: Headcracker, Brewmaker Northumberland Brown, Brewmaker Export Bitter
Drinking: Coopers Euro Lager, Coopers Dark Ale, Hambleton Bard Amber Export, Coopers Aussie Pale Ale, Almondbury Old, Coopers Stout, Wherry w/Chinook
Planning: BOTW 80/-

Hi dunc

Sounds like I'll have to try those two first then. I'll post up and let you know how I get on.
