What items should I stock??
What items should I stock??
As some of you may know, I've just started homebrewing, so I only know the basics of homebrew. My question is:
If you have £10 to spend on essential stock items for that 'in case of an emergency' situation, what whould they be?
Should I be stocking spare yeast sachets? If so, which ones should I get? can I just stock a general larger yeast and a bitter one?
Basically, I want to spend around a tenner on some items that may get me out of the most likely of problems I could encounter.

Spare hydrometer, they tend to break easily.
Spare bottling wand as they break easily.
Some yeast, some glucose, some spraymalt, some hops.

Malt extract, spirit thermometer, couple sachets each of Nottingham and SO4 and some lager yeast if you fancy it.

'Mind you; I find they're both a comfort to have to hand

Re: What items should I stock??
40 extra crown caps if you bottle. Especially if you don't have a shop nearby...

I agree with the extra steriliser, you can never have enough!
I'd say a spare brewers paddle/spoon, guaranteed when you need it you won't be able to find one! Speaking form experience

I'm sure your not the first person to do that, in fact having read that I'll probably do that in my next brew! At least you knew where yours went, mine i believe was used to stir wallpaper paste, never seen againTheMumbler wrote:Mine was in the FV with the fermenting wort last timeIngieuk wrote:I'd say a spare brewers paddle/spoon, guaranteed when you need it you won't be able to find one!
