I didn't get any mate, well only a litle & I brew in the garage, made it upto 20l & stood on a large metal tray a mate made for me which was an inch tall. Only a bit of foam expanded out of the FV. I left at 20l but you could add teh extra 3l in after if you wanted.

I brew mine on the kitchen work top, I think I'll see how this Black Pearl will turn out. I was told by the lhbs that it's a fantastic pint and went down well at the local beer festival that he went to.
Re: How much sugar to prime Wherry?
It is the first time I have ever attempted a home brew and I can’t believe the amount of people who are currently or have recently brewed Woodfords Wherry
the question I had regarding the amount of sugar or BKE that should use to condition the brew have been answered, as I too had issues with using a spoon and guesstermating. However I now come to my next dilemma, should I transfer the brew from the FV to another FV or bucket that I purchased today before adding the BKE, and should I dissolve the same in a pan with on the hob in fresh water or do I just add it straight to the brew from the scales?

Are you bottling it or kegging it?CSando wrote:It is the first time I have ever attempted a home brew and I can’t believe the amount of people who are currently or have recently brewed Woodfords Wherrythe question I had regarding the amount of sugar or BKE that should use to condition the brew have been answered, as I too had issues with using a spoon and guesstermating. Re: How much sugar to prime Wherry?
That's what I did. Syphoned the beer (or wort, can't remember at this stage) from the first fermenter, without picking up the crud and deposits from the bottom, into one with a tap and "little bottler" fitted (took a while to get the tap to seal and I ended up gluing it in the end). Then I mixed the sugar with 400 ml of boiled water (400, cos that's how big my jug was), and stirred it in, once cool. Again, saves stirring up the sediment. Then it was a simple job to fill the bottles using the little bottler. From one Rookie to another, I cannot recommend this enough, especially as they are under a fiver!. Dead simple to use, and minimal air introduced, as you fill from the bottom. Just make sure you have a drip tray for the odd drop that comes off!CSando wrote: should I transfer the brew from the FV to another FV or bucket that I purchased today before adding the BKE, and should I dissolve the same in a pan with on the hob in fresh water?
Just have to wait till Christmas to drink the stuff now.....if I can wait that long.
