Newbie question ?

Post by cantona1111 » Tue Dec 08, 2009 2:43 pm

Hi guys, first of all, this is a brilliant forum and i love reading all the old posts. My question is, Put my first brew on a week ago, muntons premium lager and has been fermenting no problem at about 16/17 degrees, starting gravity was 1.039 and has reached 1.011 and has read the same for two days now, do i bottle know or wait a while. The reason i ask is that it says on hygrometer that its not safe to bottle yet, Im still in the do it by the instructions mode. All help appreciated

Hi,

What reading does it say you need to get it to? I know with ale I would bottle that but only done a couple of lagers. It does sound fine esp as its been the same for a few days, if it's much off you could try and giving it a slight stir or increasing the temperture for the final leg.

On the hyrometer i have it says that it should be 1.008 before you bottle, im a complete novice and its my first kit, so im probably fretting bout nothing, just trying to make the best beer i can, taste good so far any how

I think that, as 1.011 is not far from 1.008, if it is static at 1.011 I would bottle. Have rarely, if ever, reached the manufacturer's FG
