Want to start brewing, advice needed please

Post by Nolski77 » Sat Dec 12, 2009 10:59 pm

Hi, I plan to try making my own beer/lager.

Thing is I have nothing, and I'm unsure what I need.

I've done a bit research and think I need fermenting barrel, hydrometer, sterilising stuff, bottles (I'm not going to use a keg).

The second thing is, the beer is going to be fermenting and kept in the garage, as it's not very warm I don't know wether this would work, can I use a fishtank thermometer? (I've seen this suggested on this forum)

Apologies if this has been asked so many times before.

Welcome to the wonderful world of homebrew. I've been going less than a year and loving it. This is a great place to find lots of info but have a look at the links in the top right corner of the page first as they'll answer most of your questions.
Have a look at this thread, it's about half a page below yours in the forum:

Thanks, I had seen that post and it seems helpful, having it recommended by someone else helps too.

Any ideas on the fishtank heater?

Good for you. Now look top right. See that slot where it says " Search " ? Research that. It's almost all in there.

I recommend the Mexican Cerveza kit, tastes like Corona!
