Yeah, I was told they were upgrading to a 40 hec system. Wonder what they did with the old gear, any ideas?

Nara was great at explaining things.

Maybe it's going to their pub in Aberdeen. I heard there was going to be a brewery on site.

the pub in aberdeen is going to have new stuff, probably the equivilent of a large homebrew set up. when they move the brewery to potterton however i think they might move the new stuff down to there and re set up the old stuff again in fraserburgh as they said they might keep that brewery for experimenting with new brews.

i worked with Stewart and he was brilliant too. i was expecting loads of complicated brewery terms and techniques but he made it feel just like home brewing on a large scale. the other thing that was nice was i was just left to get on with jobs by myself, checking gravities, weighing out and adding salts and hops etc. so if anyone has a really sh!ty beer in the next couple of months, i'll apologise now!

thats just their punk too, even more goes into the hardcore ipa! how does yours compare to the punk then? im thinking that after a cretain amount of hops the difference is less noticable. i love hoppy beers now, im really going to go nuts with my next brew.

I'd ask them whose stomach their beer is pumped from!

Sersiouly though, i am thankful to them in a way - I had wondered whether i might be a secret "hophead" and their Punk IPA has shown me without doubt that I am not! Disgusting stuff, tasted like bile.

I think all the effort had been put into cramming as many hops as possible into the beer, and someone forgot to consider whether it was actually drinkable.

I still finished it though, although i was close to having to hold my nose!

Purely out of interest, (and although I think it's an abomination to good beer) I've obtained a bottle of Tactical Nuclear Penguin, and intend to split it with 3 mates over the festive period....

Anyone else tried this one?

Haha! Thanks Chris, Not sure if it's fortunate or not that most of my mates think themselves "beer affiaionados" and most are CAMRA members..... Actually, you're right! They'll see the word BrewDog and run a mile

Why's it an abomination to beer? Eisbocks have been around many many years.

No worries Dog... s!!t happens!

Well, I've just cracked open the bottle of Tactical Nuclear Penguin!!!! Was saving it for Xmas/New Year but it didn't make it to the party...

If I ignore the fact it's been frozen/thawed so many times, and the resultant beer drawn off, enough times to get it above 30+ %, it's actually quite nice. There is no drink like it. and it's a bit like marmite.... you'll either like it or hade it!
Also, the mouthfeel was like a light treacle and measured to gravity - it was around 1022, which seems to match the taste.

Image

Talk about radical brewing - this takes things to the extreme.....

I dunno if Brewdog produce the Stout that started before they messed about to make Tactical Nuclear Penguin, but if they did, would love to try it!

P.S. I have one more bottle of TNP so if any members in the North Eaat (Tynemouth) area are interested, I'm happy with hosting a meeting.

Maybe I'm missing something. But if you freeze the beer and then remove the ice. wouldn't that be distilling and no longer beer?
