I've been looking at that ThermaWrap stuff, myself.
Focus DIY have it for £16.99 http://www.focusdiy.co.uk/Insulation/Ge ... 64&bklist=
Screwfix for £17.12 http://www.screwfix.com/prods/29949/Bui ... 20x%207.5m
B&Q have it for £20 for 2, so BOGOF works out at a tenner per roll.

In Tesco's it's £24.99 for 3 rolls [3 for the price of 2] or £8.33 per roll

Re: Boiler Insulation
Update:
You can now buy a single B&Q Aluminium Thermal Foil M/P Insulation Silver Length 7.5m x Width 600mm.
It's "50% off" at £9.89, instead of a bogof!

Re: Boiler Insulation
This is the job I did on my boiler, knocked 30 minutes off of my getting to boil time and with 6KW in there that has to make a difference to my bills pretty fast.
This is an early version with only one layer of the stuff called Radflect where I got it, and the shiney side was in, I then put a second layer on and put the shiney side out, theory being that I will create a blanket of warmth on the outside that will insulate and stop conduction to a great extent. If I touch it, it is no more than warm when at a rolling boil. The tape I used was a metal tape that is used for sealing ducting. Second layer I only had a small amount of this stuff left so I used duck tape to finish it.
This is the Brupaks boiler sold by Leyland Home Brew, I intend to buy another one and then an MLT and set up HERMS similar to Phil Robbins at some point, but starting with small steps and doing extracts at the moment before I move on to all grain.

I removed the handle at the top to ensure a good fit on the lid too. Second layer I just cut a hole in the centre of it.
I think you'll agree it does a very neat and a sweet job.

Re: Boiler Insulation
Hi EoinMag,
I agree that is a very neat and efficient job you have done there, it is definitely worth the effort.
Are your heater elements standard immersion heater one's that are installed in domestic hot water storage tanks?

I'll be honest and tell you I don't actually know of any other applications for them but it's the HS11 on this page http://www.banico.co.uk/Products.htm it's an 11" stainless immersion heater.
I bought it as an all in one specialist boiler from http://www.leylandhomebrew.com/item1574.htm . I got the 75l version to be able to easily do 65l boils with no boilovers.
