just bought 2 rotokegs from recycling

Post by BIGTRACTOR » Sat Jan 13, 2007 5:57 pm

hi all, just come back from the recycle centre with 2 rotokegs bought for £3!! had a look at the lids and they are the green ones with the larger c02 valve and the smaller one with a bit of yellow rubber around it (is this the pressure release valve?

All the alimunium and the rubbers look a bit worse for wear so there no way i'd trust them with a brew. i know i can change the o ring and the tap but i'm not sure about the valves ( i know they dont make rotokegs anymore).

i've just tried undoing the little nut on the smaller valve and it just snapped off!

just wondered if it would be worth my while trying to get the parts, i also noticed that my king keg lid seems to fit ok on the rotokeg, so maybe i could simply buy a couple of king keg lids, (don't know if you can get these as spares or not or how much).

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, :D [/img]

i've just searched the internet and someone has mentioned that the 4" hambleton bard lids available at hopshopuk will fit.

http://www.hopshopuk.com/cgi-bin/browse ... =102182359

i have already emailed them asking if this is true, but maybe someone here has an idea, cheers!

so would love to hear any other suggestions (maybe i should take 'em back to recycling? lol i dont want to spend too much dosh on them when you can get king kegs for around £35.

Have you tried seeing if the rotokeg will keep pressure using a king keg cap? If it works you can get replacement kk caps @ the home brew shop:

BrewGenie also list the green RotoKeg lids, you could try there...

http://www.brewgenie.co.uk

Look in Equipment > Barrels and Spares > 8887 Other Spares

It would be a shame to give in... :?

just another quickie, i've seen one of those brown boots barrels at the recycle centre, but it looks like someone had silconed an airlock onto the lid, just wondered if anyone knows whether you can get spare lids for these?
