Re: Leanndubh (Oatmeal Stout)
Just noticed I have no irish moss of profloc tabs.
Thankfully this beer should be dark as hell.

Re: Leanndubh (Oatmeal Stout)
Dark Ale, is what the name means.
My dad speaks Irish so he named it.
Ended up with 20L @ 1068 including the 2.5L starter which I just threw in.
Will post up the pics I took soon. The pre boil wort looked like oil.

Re: Leanndubh (Oatmeal Stout)

Starter after a good shake, 3.5Lish. 1L got split into 2 PET bottles and 2.5L ended up in the beer.

Close up.

Grainy goodness with some water treatment.

Bravo for Bittering to 35IBUs

Initial Run off from the sparge.

Recirculation, don't know if the photo captured it but the first runnings really had an lovley almost oiley sheen.

Run off into the boiler and FWH.

Aerated and pitched, surrounded by one or two empties.

Looks excellent, Sam Smiths Oatmeal stout is probably my favourite beer ever, so im interested in doing an Oatmeal stout.
Re: Leanndubh (Oatmeal Stout)
Just a quick update on this guy. Down to 1028 today, so thats about 60% attenuation in 48hours. Still has a nice big yeast head on it.

Re: Leanndubh (Oatmeal Stout)
I did indeed. They were probably in for around 30 mins at gas 3. They could have been in for longer, but I was getting hassel. They smelled very nice though.mysterio wrote:Looking good did you toast those oats ?
The hydro sample tasted pretty damn good if I do say so myself. You can try one of these if you want, i'll also let you diagnose my Centenial Pale ale when you have a chance. Tastes just a bit funny to me.
Re: Leanndubh (Oatmeal Stout)
Good stuff, yeah I might have some pilsner for you not sure though, just killed my keg of Flanders red tonight so can't help you there... 18 months work and gone in a heartbeat
