Post by podge1 » Sat Jan 16, 2010 8:58 pm

Hi all, running out of beer fast so want a quick fix but dont want to pay to heavily.
Ive a corny type keg with gas and a john bull kit made with enhancer ready to keg.
Would adding finings (from wilkos) take much if any taste/body from the beer and how much quicker would it clear.
Only a temporary measure till i catch up any help welcome ty podgey

should be fine, I add my finings in the fermenter the day before barrelling so that most will have dropped before putting in the cornie saves a lot of crud at the bottom. Some people have cut the bottom 1cm of their dip tubes to avoid the sludge

prolix, can you describe how you add the finings to the FV and what type you are using pls? I asked Chris-x1 about this on an earlier thread as I'm concerend about oxidising the beer. But it appeals to me to do as you do by fining once in the FV then going direct to corny. I've been fining on racking from FV to corny and then transferring between cornies to leave the finings residue behind but the labour involved in the extra step is a pain. I generally use gelatine and my dip tubes are all modified. Oh and do you crash cool your FV when adding the finings? Cheers
