i've just ask the missus if i could brew something for her what would it be. she replied a stella or becks. (love you to lisa!!!)
i'm still a novicebut willing to give anything a go (apart from insest and voting tory), is there any kits or combinations of kit, malt etc to make a light continental style lager, like your stellas and becks.

choppers,
the Brupaks Special lager I did a while back had a definate 'Stellary' taste and look to it, I made it quite strong as well, (5.3%), you'll have to ferment it cool though as it comes with real lager yeast.(Brewferm) I did mine at around 15 degreesC for 3 weeks then bottled.
not all retailers that sell the Brupaks range do the lager though for some reason.

cheers for the ideas.
had a look on leylands site and they do the brewferm and they look like what i'm after only because at the mo. i don't want to do anything at a too a low temp. mrs chopper always complains its too cold in the house whenever i do a lager, only coz i turn the central heating on timer!!!

if you're doing a kit with real lager yeast you need somewhere to lager ferment your brew, my kitchen cupboard never got above 15/16 degrees so it was perfect for the job, next time I do lager will be in a fridge with the thermostat replaced with an RS jobbie, which I already have I just can't be arsed to fit it, it will also do the business in the summer for fermeting, those sea levels are rising y'now.......

I agree. I give most lager drinkers a bottle of my light ale and tell them it's lagermysterio wrote:To be honest I don't find Stella or Becks to be all that lager-like in flavour apart from the colour, dryness and low bitterness. I bet you could fool most people by brewing a well carbonated blonde ale with a low bitterness.

I haven't had one complaint
