I too bought the pirex jug after reading DaaB's 'how to' page!
In response to Frothy, it's only a 16 quart pot so I did a partial boil. Going to have to get my wort chiller up and running, dumped 2 gallons of hot wort in the fermenter and topped up with cold water but the temperature was still 100f +.
I left it a bit but the temperature was probably still too high when I pitched my carefully prepared starter so I had to use more yeast when things got cooler.
The kids were helping to weigh out the hops, more clean up but they seemed to enjoy it!
As you can see, my house is a tip! I like to blame the kids for that, got those two, a 6 month old boy and one in the oven, due at the end of July!
