I dont have much clearence between my tap and the bottom of the sink in my kitchen. This makes it a bugger to fill vessels with water. How do ppl overcome this problem?
An example is yesterday when I made a Kit. I wanted to purify my water before I brewed. So with my keg and Fv clean and sterile I wanted to fill the Keg with water so I could purify it. The keg would be sat on the kitchen work top. Id then then 'drop' the purified water into my kettle to boil, and for the rest, drop directly into the FV to add iar to the wort.
This is made hard by having to fill jugs and kettles in order to fill the keg/Vessel ont he work top.
I am considering attachine a meter or so of hose/silicone tubing with a jubilee slip to the Kitchen tap so I can fill the vessel I need water in directly. This would save me so much time and effort!
Any suggestions?
Cheers.
Kitchen tap is awkward
Re: Kitchen tap is awkward
I got some big stock pots that I fill I mainly use the 4.5 ltr one and that means 4 full pots and a part pot
not too much for me and means I havent got to worry about keeping the hose dry between brews just keep pot really clean and its been ok for filling of rkits' for full mash etc

Re: Kitchen tap is awkward
I've made a short "shepherd's crook" out of about 60cm of 15mm copper pipe. It goes on the end of a hose with a hose clip. The crook just hooks over the edge of the vessel you're filling/cleaning and the hose goes to the tap. It stays in place, so you have two hands free.

I do everything outside with the hose pipe. Except cleaning which i do nupstairs in the bath with the power shower. Usuallly I am not in the bath at the same time.
