First Gold & Cascade..Tuesday's Brewnight & pics

Hello,

Just done a First Gold & Cascade brew here is the recipe.

4.6kg Maris Otta
100g Crystal Malt

First Gold 30g 60 mins
Cascade 10g 60 min
First Gold 10g 30 min
Cascade 10g 30 min
First Gold 10g 10 min
Cascade 10g 10 min

Cascade 25g @80C

IBU's 42
OG 1046

Bit of malt & crystal

Set up

mash on, 66c

Image

Fleece on

Image

First batch, 8ltrs added to origional 12ltrs. Next batch was 15ltrs

boil on, added 1.5 ltrs of boiling water during 60 min boil to add volume.

80c ish & last of 25gms cascade in, they smell GOOD!

Is it possible to brew a bad beer with cascade!!! The smell when they hit the copper is luuvly, specially when you are boiling in the kitchen!!!

floyd, it's a 33 ltr fermentation bin, sold by Leyland homebrew shop. Fitted to cheapo Asda elements and it has been great. Bin cost about £13 a year ago, with black tap and holes cut for 2 elements. There was one on ebay last week with proper kettle elements buy it now £30. Think it might have finished now though.
