Where to buy Co2 in North Hampshire

Post by TheBigEasy » Mon Oct 02, 2006 8:21 pm

Is anyone getting CO2 cylinders refilled in North Hampshire?

I am between Basingstoke and Reading and looking for a supplier that does not charge the earth.

I have been quoted £33.52 (excl vat), plus £11.62 collection charge (excl vat) or £32.75 delivery charge (excl vat). There is also a daily rental rate of 17p (excl vat) which I think is just for the gas. At that rate it would be cheaper to buy 16gm bulbs

£16 for a 7lb or a 14lb cylinder at Guildford (same price for either size!).

OK, not Hampshire but around the Northern border!

Jon,

I'm just up the road as you know but I get mine in Guildford at the Calor Gas Centre on Slyfield.

Andy, you're too quick. My reflexes are obviously dulled by alcohol.

16 quid sounds more like it. Is that a turn up with a cylinder and they fill it there and then?
Is it food grade CO2. I have heard some people talk of nasty aromas with certain CO2

Turn up, ask for a cylinder, get cylinder, pay 16 quid, no deposit, no return, job done.

It hasn't left any odd flavours in my beer so I guess it's OK.

They won't fill your cylinder - they just sell you a new one (for £16). When that's empty then take it along, pay another £16 and pick up a full one.

So they might not take your old cylinder - depends what type/make it is etc.

No problem though, just get a new one 8)

I don't use them but I've spoken to them in the past and they seem helpful. I gave their name to another HBer on UKHB and he got a cyclinder no worries. I think they charge about £15 a refill...no rental.

£15 seems about the going rate.

Edit: Sorry, I didn't mean to quote myself. I hit quote instead of edit....Bum.

Phil,
Still haven't managed it
I do not drive so I am reliant on 'er indoors. We have been a bit busy for the last few weekends so a trip to Guildford has been impossible.
I will have to go soon as I am running out of 16 gm bulbs to charge me cornies.
