I am amazed that there are no HB shops in this part of the woods at all. I live in Welling, kent - I think the nearest one is way down in chatham or over in Essex somewhere. I really am forced to use online for all my purchases - anyhow i've just sent an order in to the guy on ebay for 250g of fuggles and 250g of Styrians - got a reply straight away and he said they'll ship monday. Will keep you posted as to quality and delivery.

How much does 5kg cost inc delivery?

I'd be interested in a mini coop NW England/N. Midlands.

Hops arrived today, well wrapped in thick plastic bag and tied off with a cable tie. Strong aroma, so they do smell fresh and labelled clearly with AA rating and use by date on Jan 08. They are now double wrapped in the freezer.....

All in all I can recommend these for those that don't have a reliable local store.

Hi johnmac i would be keen for a regional hop co op.I have just bought a vacuum packing machine as i was thinking of buying in bulk and selling what i didnot need .All you need is 5 people or more per 5kilo bag to make thjis a sensible proposition.I can see the why some might argue to support your local HB shop but my local one seems content to sell stock which is past its sell by date and has no time to talk to novices. I would happily pay through the nose prices if i thought theres an expert behind the counter imparting knowledge and encouragement but its taken me joining this on line forum to get this . Death to the nasty HB shops

Hi All
I spent the day at my local micro brewery a few weeks ago, very interesting, they said I could buy my grain and hops from then, Ive just order a few things this time, wanted to get my feet under the table first. I was going to ask if they would sell a 5Kg pack of hops next time. If all gose well I might be able to help start a mini coop on the forum, but it dose depend on the price. If anyone is interested drop me a PM and ill let you know how thing go, im hoping to go tomorrow.

regards Paul

I'd love to support my local HB shop
Unfortunately they insist on selling crappy old dry & loose hops
Hopshop, H&G & Beertech are brill'.

Looks like we may have enough for a mini co-op, if we can agree on variety? I guess we all use Goldings? I'd be up for a couple of kg and would also consider other aroma varieties. I only use Target and Fuggles in smallish amounts. Cascade or Styrian Goldings would also be good for a couple of KG.

I gather Charles Farms will charge £34 inc delivery for 5kg, based on info in this thread?

Hi Paul,

Are you about to become my homebrew shop?

If you're going to supply hops and gas, you may as well start wholesaling malt as well.

Seriously though, the bulk hops idea sound good, especially if they're fresh.

Thanks for the heads up CF.

Anyone have an idea how long hops would remain usable if kept in a freezer? :?

Hi
I went to see about my grain and hops today, as I walked into the brewery I saw the Heat exchanger in bits on the floor. Ill go back next week to see them.
