Re: thought i'd share this, cheap foodgrade pump for sparge
yep, they are good, cheap and chuckable if ya like compared to those "beer branded use" ones LOL
Re: thought i'd share this, cheap foodgrade pump for sparge
i have a black lever tap on my mash tun, would i have to change this to use this pump..
Re: thought i'd share this, cheap foodgrade pump for sparge
Is it one of those you hold on and let go to "off it" ?
doesnt matter if your not bothered to hold it, I have a metal tap on mine, you can see here - http://jimsbeerkit.co.uk/forum/viewtopi ... nk#p338494
up to you, personally, i couldnt wait to ditch any plastic taps, as in my boiler or mash tun.
i got mine off fleabay i think for about 9 quid or so, so not too bad.
have fun, lee

Re: thought i'd share this, cheap foodgrade pump for sparge
Right, I'm convinced, I think I'll order one this week and use it to recirculate mash and transfer to boiler etc, a FV bucket full of hot liquid seems to be fairly soft and precarious to handle when transferring...
Re: thought i'd share this, cheap foodgrade pump for sparge
Very sensible
I dont use mine to transfer though, just sparge recirculate, as i find that once the last sparge batch is in the mash tun, theres only about 15ltr or so of wort in a bucket and its not that hot, wack that in the boiler and turn on whilst the last sparge does its thing, then wack that in after
I do three batches of sparge recirculation, so I could in effect do the mash and one sparge in a bucket and split the rest, then i'd be handling lesser quantities, but have another dirty bucket !! see below
To pump transfer just adds another job to it, and faffing about, me and faff dont mix
Cheers, lee

Nice little pump!
I've ordered one, along with a regulated Ac to Dc converter and some reinforced food grad I/d 10mm tubing!
happy days!

"regulated ac/dc convertor", care to share where thats from, im looking for a better adapter than the one i have, i had to bodge some cable in the end of the socket to use it, i'd like to tidy that up with a new one
cheers, lee

Bargain slade, silly bit, whats the positive (red) and negative wires, did you just cut it and use an electrical connection block ?

when you get the power regulator, if its the same one, then according to my multimeter the positive wire is the one with a white stripe. you connect this wire to the red on the pump and the other wire to the negative (black) on the pump.leewink wrote:Bargain slade, silly bit, whats the positive (red) and negative wires, did you just cut it and use an electrical connection block ?

I chopped the connector off the power adapter, then used some Red crimp terminal bullet plugs and sockets connectors from Maplin (links below) to join both cables up so I can disconnect later.
