Probs with Electrim boiler

Post by fractureman » Sun Jun 06, 2010 6:25 pm

Hi have read on the board here somewhere that the elements in these boilers are sometimes tempramental. My prob at the moment is it keeps cutting out & does not maintain a rolling boil, or sometimes get close to boil :( Was thinking it might be an idea to clean the element up, but what should I use??? Also maybe replace the element completly with a fresh new one, any ideas on where to get one would be appreciated ;)

I'm no expert on electrim, but I cleaned my burco element with some anti-scale stuff just bought from Sainsburys (sorry can't recall the brand). It worked but only after three attempts and much scrubbing (as it softened the scale rather than removed it fully). Were i to do it again then I think I'd look for some stronger acid cleaner of some kind.

Cheers

I had the same problem .I emailed "peco services" that supplied the element. They replied to post it to them and 2 days later a brand new element turned up.
Quality service.

I had problems with the Electrim ... even after cleaning the element. It just doesn't like boiling... I use mine for HLT now only, heating strike and sparge water.
