Cheers for all the advice on the wiring etc of these mini temperature controllers. I copied Scooby's design and purchased a project box etc from Maplins. Below is a link to the parts if anyone is interested

Here is a link for the box I used http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=1676
Actual box was part number LH23A (MB4)

Cable gland (for mains cable was) http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=24611
Part was UP89W

Grommet I used for the thermometer cable was http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=1780
Part was LR47B.

Works a treat and I now have a nice conditioning fridge up and running :D

I've only just started fitting my Temp controller into a plastic case...

Temp controller in place from the rear:

Case internals so far, thought I'd include an Earthing block:

Temp sensor fitted to side of HLT:

Controller fitted to case front with approx positions of the Heating & Cooling Sockets:

This box will be on the wall next to the HLT and wired from a fused Spur, When I get a fermentation fridge I'll just get an extension lead and plug it in, though I may have to figure out a switchable Temp sensor to I can swap between two... though I suppose I could just buy a second Temp controller :)

chard, its not as bad as it looks, copy the pics.

be aware, when you first power it up, it'll look like it doesnt work.
dumbass here forgot about the intentional delay of 3 mins, cursed, un-wired, re-wired, scratched head, supped beer, then realised!

Yeh im sure ill manage. Need to get the fridge somewhere suitable first. its going to be used as a fermenting fridge and keg cooling fridge as i go. It fits 1 KKTT in or 2 cornies. i know i should get another corny but i havent had great results with it so far. i personally think there is a noticeable difference between a properly conditioned (yeast included) ale and an ale left to settle and put into a corny.

Is that the sensor that comes with the controller?

Sod the probe, where did you source the compression fitting? :D

I personally like the look of one of these but £100 is a bit excessive

Don't buy it Jolum!

It won't work with these controllers, they need NTC, not PT100 probes.

This one comes with a threaded shaft and fixings, no need for a separate gland:
