Cheers Rick,
Yeah for some reason the Witch Craft is well over carbed, yet only the same amount of priming sugar as normal ?, not sure
why it got so lively.

This was a great summer type golden ale; full of aroma and nicely bittered. It also had a lot more body than the rest of the samples; a very nicely carbonated, tasty refreshing brew there mate; looking forward to sampling a pint of it from a pub in Barlick sometime soon!

Fullers London Porter - Rick Huggins.

Again not my prefered style of ale, but i gotta say this was well tasty,
the first few sips had hints of liqorice, followed by a nice dark malty finish,
but then the hops started to come through after the initial liqorice taste, even though
the hops weren`t overpowering they were perfectly balanced with the malts.
As you can see from the photo, its a lovely dark colour and nicely carbed.
Yet another cracking pint mate =D>

The original recipe was gained from Whorst, i just brewed it with Pale Malt only.
I also mashed this at 71 deg C, hence the fuller body, i think i may adopt that temp for my lighter ales,
as it does add more body.
Its a mix of Challenger & Cascade

Cheers

hi all, cant find the beer swap thread.......... its me.............. can you let me know where to locate it and is there a good swapping scene? ( hmm that could be interesting............) thanks. seems a great way to brew 40 pints then split 8 ways to allow 5 pints of 7 other members beer........ assuming the postage is not to great..... thats 7x postage at £3.99 .........hmm but still cheap beer ( and you get your 35 bottles back from the others!) besides you need 5 pints to try out a beer good or bad! well i do.

Received Geordiebrewer's Conqueror Toffee Ale yesterday and poured today (viewtopic.php?f=24&t=31416&hilit=+toffee)

Firstly, what a professional looking bottle! Very impressive. Opened it and heard a gentle hiss. Perfect as I don't like too much carbonation. As you can see, it has a lovely browny/orangey colour. Was actually very clear. My camera is rubbish. Sorry GB! Head is dense and foamy and is really holding. Have half of it down me as I type and there is still a good 5mm. Creamy in colour.

Gave it a sniff, and was met by lovely floral toffeeness. Could really smell the toffee and the crystal together. Superb. Took a sip. Did not disappoint. Absolutely teeming with huge depth and malty toffeeness. The floral notes are always present in the background whilst beer is in the mouth. However, 4-5 seconds after swallowing, the floral notes disappear and a gentle astringency (from the crystal?) sets in along with the bitterness. Really nice welcoming sensation. This beer is pretty strong at 6.6%. Alcohol taste isn't really detectable but it's warmth is felt... if that makes sense!

Very impressed GB. Many thanks for this wonderful pint. I shall add it to my 'to brew' list.

Just cracked open Geordiebrewer's Black Midden Imperial Stout. Here it is - again very professionally presented.

Image

Again, lovely gentle hiss when opening. Nice tan head and pretty much opaque.

Image

Poured it and took a whiff. Strong roast coupled with floral notes hit me hard. Alcohol is pretty pungent too which adds an immediate soothing warmth. I'm imagining winter in a cottage with a raging fire.

Drinking it now as I type. Lovely roasty sweetness balances perfectly with the bitterness and the alcohol is always present in the background keeping it all warm and cosy. Every time I take a sip, I breathe in through my nose so that the alcoholic vapours hit all the corners of my brain. :D No doubt about it, I'm drinking a 7.2%er!

I really love this one GB and am inspired to give an Imperial Stout a go after the summer. I reckon this will taste even better in the winter after ageing some more. Superb man. Big well done!!

Cheers from a dizzy Floyd!

Leedsbrew's Schneider Weisse - viewtopic.php?f=24&t=32218

Certainly looks the part, lively, had it all over the kitchen top the first part pouring crystal clear the second part then clouding it up.
I'd say that is damn close to the real thing, about the right body with just a tad of sweetness, the yeast producing some subtle notes getting some banana on a slurp while sucking some air in and subtle banana and clove on the nose, bitterness feels spot on.
Thirst quenching and refreshing as it should be :)

Much better than my Dark Wheat with WB-06 yeast, cheers for coming over to do the bottle swap :)

Cheers Ade. Glad you liked it. Next time i'm going to prime less. I did these ones to 3.75 vols and I think it's a bit too much. I'm gonna crack into your beers tonight/tomorrow. :D

Cheers again LB

Leedsbrew's Lothlórian Mist.

Emma says, "It looks like Wee" ;)

Thankfully the light bodied pi55 colour is very pleasant, the WB-06 yeast working very well here. I gave it a swish and poured it cloudy straight from the fridge.
Another good summer quencher, coriander leaves a little silky numbness in the mouth.
Very nice :) =D>

Just cracked open a bottle of Floydmeddlers Hophead..... 8) I love this beer!

Image

Opened the bottle with a generous hiss, and saw froth starting to rise to the top of the bottle, but it didn't overflow, I may have been over-gentle with pouring, but as you can see, looks a perfect pint!

Good clarity, might not look as good in the picture as it was, because of condensation on the glass.

Now onto the best bit! WOW! Great bead from the carbonation released fantastic flowery, apricot aromas, bitterness comes across, but more apparant is the aroma, and very apparent residual sweetness which leaves a Turkish Delight aftertaste.

Halfway through I let out a rip roaring belch which definately left a taste of refreshers in the mouth (probably too much info)

Nice colour, I'd guess it's about 9 EBCs :

Thanks Floyd.... fantastic beer mate! Good effort :)
