After much deliberation by the assembled pannel which included, myself (the brew company ltd) Stu Ross (crown brewery) Simon H Johnson (reluctant scooper) Richard Burnhouse (mybrewerytap.com) & Andy Cullen (Chairman Sheffield and Distict CAMRA) - the winners were:
1st - Half Nelson - Paul Carruthers - a excellently hoppy pale IPA style beer. WELL DONE! Paul will be brewing his beer at the Brew Company soon!
2nd - Old Bernard - Barnsley Brewer - A fantastic malt fest of a beer.
3rd - Paul (of Murphy's Nottingham) Metal Stout - Smooth, roasted, dark, with lucious full mouthfeel. Yompf!

Commiserations to all those who didn't quite get to the top slot but i have to say the quality of them all was superb.
As usual homebrewers give commercial brewers a run for their money.
A big well done to all and thanks for entering the competition.
We will do again soon, it was a great way to meet up, try each others beers and share the whole experience of brewing and enjoyment of beer.

Until next time - keep on keeping on!
Pete.

cheers Pete.
It's been a good night.
Thanks from all of us for hosting the evening, it's been a good experience.

Got a couple of those bottles of Flying Dog to bring home, they were something a bit special. :D

Think that's the problem right there!!

Some of those drinks were pretty strong there at the end mind!
7.8% and 8.3% are certainly made to put hairs on your chest!

Thanks', and well done to the others too!! =D> =D>
If anyone wants the recipe they're quite welcome, maybe a mod could put it in the recipe thread??
First time i've entered a beer in a comp, my tasters tell me I brew some good beers but you just think they're been polite....
To come placed in a comp (big or small) where nobody knows you is one of my prodest brewing moments. :D
All I can say is....
It's thanks' to the advice I've been given that enabled me to do it. =D> =D> =D> =D>

THANK-YOU!!

I was surprised how odd it felt to have people taste your beer then whisper to each other and then write notes about it. Nice to get some feedback though.

Anyway, here's my Half Nelson recipe. Don't know when we'll get to brew this but looking forward to it :D
