Cambridge JBK Beer Meet 30th July 2010

Post by Tequilla6 » Tue Jul 13, 2010 11:10 am

Hola everyone,

Nice to see everyone is still around, it seems to be a little while since the last meet in April and as I'm back in the country for a short while during the summer season I wanted to get another meet going before I have to leave for the sun again.

After exhaustive efforts in communicating with the regulars via private messages, it has been decided that the Cambridge JBK group will be having a few beers in the Kingston Arms (Kingston Street, off Mill Road in Cambridge) on Friday 30th July at 8. Very informal, just a few beers and a few samples of our own stuff to try. (Sorry I won't be able to provide any beer myself, it's hard to brew in a campervan  )

I expect a majority of regular crowd will be in attendance, but we would also welcome any newcomers, either with or without beer to come and join in the fun and conversation.

Cheers

I'm up for it.

Plus, I can bring a beer I'm actually pleased with :)

I'll be there, but that's the easy part of the decision! What to bring?
I think I'll let the weather decide, it it's hot I'll bring something from the fridge, Rauch Weiss perhaps?, otherwise I'll bring this confusing brown beer. Or something completely different (that'd be a change! ).
You can't have the barley wine yet though - it's dangerously drinkable but I'm saving it for one of the cooler months...
Best,
ML.

Sounds like it will be a good night, but it's bad timing for me, I'm afraid. I'm only in Cambridge until the 29th.

Have one for me,
Damian.

Apologies lads, I'm going to have to duck out of tonight's gathering; I've only got 3 bottles of beer left and need to get a brew on- with packed weekends coming up and being busy at work- it's going to have to be tonight!

Have one for me

Cheers,
Jamie

Hi ploar, it's a fairly random meeting with no set dates. I will pm you when we have another one.

It doesn't matter if you brew all grain, extract kits or nothing! an interest in making beer is all that's required. There's a wealth of knowledge and experience along with some great samples to be had. You would be brewing from grain after one of these meetings :D

Really enjoyed the meet up last night, cheers for all the advice!

I did as suggested, went to Cambridge beers and now have one of these:

Now I need to find a regulator, any advice on what I'm looking for?

Cheers.

You need something like this Drew: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CO2-GAS-REGULATOR ... 483b8f2780

The important part is the female bottle coupling. The left gauge indicates bottle pressure and the right gauge needs to be replaced with a simple 0-60 psi pressure gauge, as it indicates flow rate, something like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/50mm-Pressure-Gau ... 3a5cf1c6d5

If you will be using JG 3/8" pushfit pipe, you need a 3/8 BSP right hand threaded adapter on the regulator output http://www.coffeehit.co.uk/PRD_ProductD ... --Flat-End

Alternatively, norm does these: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-SINGLE-CO2-RE ... 4aa357f96e which is everything you need, but i don't know what they are like.
