Severn trent Hardness
Severn trent Hardness
I notice Severn trent are now giving a value for hardness as CaCo3 on their website.Am I right in thinking that if I take 60% of this figure it gives the alkalinity.I've arrived at this percentage by using ionic masses for calcium of 40.078 and carbonate of 60.007.These total 100 as near as damn it(that's a scientific expression) .It's not too far out from deducting the anions from the cations and also from the results of Daab's test kit.Just making sure I fully understand the theory.
Re: Severn trent Hardness
Thanks Chris
I'm using your test kit for an accurate result but we have a MCBA meeting on Saturday and will be discussing certain aspects of water treatment . I wondered if the hardness figure would give a reasonable guide and I suppose I like all my figures to tie up.
