Hi lads,
My water is suitable for mild but I don't like dark stout coloured milds. Has anyone a recipe for a light coloured mild .I was thinking of malts such as pale chocolate malt or chocolate malt. or how about german dark malts such as munich mixed with mild malt any ideas would be great. My Alkilinity is 125.5.

You need to look in the <brewing liquor section, or you'll be drinking mild 'til you're 90.
You can reduce the alkalinity of your water so you're free to brew whatever you like. A life of mild sounds like hell!!!

I do like bitter but have had problems regarding Alkilinity and wrong additions of CRS gypsum and DLS. I had been taking all of the alkilinity out not leaving 50 ppm and overdoseing with DLS and Gypsum. If I brew bitter next I was going to use 14ml CRS in 34 ltres of liqour and 1tsp of Gypsum or DLS in mash goods. What do you think of that idea ?. In the pub I love Bass and Pedigree.

I think the idea is that the dark malts will sort out your water chemistry for you.
By leaving them out you're loosing their acid and even though you call it mild it wont do the job for you.

I am sure you are right . I will try CRS again and try to get the right dose and change my hops to Fuggles to try to get the sharpness mellow in bitters

green king used to brew an excellent light mild - very pale. for 5 gallons use 3kg mild ale malt, 300 g caramalt or you could use crystal, 500g flaked barley
for hops fuggle willamette challenger or first gold are ideal or a mixture, not too bitter and if you wan't to refresh, late hop with 30m to go

I looked back at my old recipes and in the past I've also added biscuit or amber malt to light milds which doesn''t darken them too much but helps introduce some character
