You can have a bash at it while the mash is on and while the wort is getting up to boil. Set the HLT on a timer switch so it is ready to brew with first thing.

Good luck with it, First Gold have a great flavour.

Woke early this morning and thought sod it, so got the brew on, got as far as the boil then realised i had lent my chiller to my mate :(
Frantic phone call and he wont be home till four thirty
So what do i do my thoughts are crack on and drop to a sterilised fermenter and seal up until tomorrow then pitch yeast, having never done this before i am a little concerned can anyone advise or suggest an alternative ? my 80c steep has gone for a burton so thought i would throw in at flame out and leave for an hour before dropping to the FV

Don't worry about it too much. Plenty of people don't have immersion chillers!

Put the FV in the bath with a bit of cold water in the bottom. Maybe put a wet towel over it too and just stir every now and again and jug cold water over the towel.

Shame about the late hops though as you might loose any aroma and gain a bit of bitterness with the long cool...

I'm sure it'll turn out OK...
