Welcome to the AG club :)
You might want to find some better tube than a garden Hose, you might get a taste from it.

Brothern, is absolutely correct there.
I did a vote post on here a few months ago and 80% of people prefer half a protofloc in a 5 gallon brew length (better pulling power).

Your technique will always improve with each brew!
Remember the grains in mash run and leaf hops in boiler should do most of the filtering for you ;)
