hi. i am looking for some proven london pride or TTL style recipes. doesnt have to be exact copies, just a nice drinkable ale. every GW recipe i have made has turned out very bland and wishy washy. i have made some very good beers from recipes from JBK before and am still making those regulary. these have mainly been flowery hoppy light beers beers. would like some best bitter ish type recipes to try now. would even try some 4-6% milds.
have made a GW archers best and everything went as per book and it is very very bland. greene king ipa has more flavour and depth to it!!!!!!

I've found some of Graham's recipes to be great and some others to be just OK.
I'm not sure I'd go as far describing them as bland. There are quite a few similar recipes in there which inevitably result in similar beers but that is more a reflection on the similarity between the commercial versions of the beers.

Fullers London Pride has been covered on the Jamil Show "Can You Brew It?" Podcast. They interviewed the Fullers headbrewer who gave out the recipe.

They've also had a re-brew click.
This appears to be the bottled version of Pride, which is stronger than the cask version.
Pride/ESB is a party-gyle, so it's difficult to get an exact clone of Pride, anyway.
What would be nice, would be to brew the cask version as it was 10-15 years ago. It's not a patch on what it was, in my opinion.

Your actual mash temp could be a little low.
Maybe try a different yeast.
Do you use temperature control during fermentation?

have tried lots of GW recipes and follow very carefully. the last one was spot on to the book. only using packet yeast as per recipe. when i have made beers from "real" peoples recipes they have always turned out very good. even got the most quaffable beer at my local CBA meeting about a year ago. only lost out due to cloudiness.
mash temperatures have always been excellent, lose about 1.5 degrees max over 90 mins. pre warm the MT etc and nearly always get mash at right temp to start. 72 degrees when it goes in means 66 degree mash. can up and down it as required. is for a 6kg ish mash.
we use a temperature controlled room to ferment in. copied from JBK. has fridge & tube heater in (controlled by a ATC-800) and is fully insulated. can hold about 5 30L buckets

GW's recipes are great, but from an Antipodean point of view where we are more used to beers around the 5% mark, many (but not all of course) find four percenters a bit gutless, however scaling up many of the recipes generally still keeps the beer in balance - this may be what the OP is looking for.
I've had a fair bit of success with my "Superlandlord" version of TTL which puts it more in the strength league of, say, bottled Speckled Hen but still has the hallmarks of the TT original.
SuperLandlord 23L batch:
5 kg Thomas Fawcett Golden Promise
500g Weyermann Munich 2
60g Bairds Choc malt

Caramelise 2 litres of runnings
400g sugar in the boil
30g Fuggles 60 min
30g EKG 60 min
40g Styrians 10 min
30g Styrian dry hop in fermenter or in keg in a voile bag etc.
