Damn the expense Mid Atlantic IPA
Re: Damn the expense Mid Atlantic IPA
Once i have used a hop to dry hop a beer(i dry hop in a bag) i keep the hops in a tupperware box in the fridge for the next brew. For a strong hop like simcoe or amarillo i can get away with it as there is enough alpha left in the hops to influence the profile. On a lesser alpha hop they would be used in the next boil.

Re: Damn the expense Mid Atlantic IPA
I've frozen some Mittlefruh that I dry hopped with this week, they'll be going in my Wheat Beer this weekend for Bittering
Tis an excellent idea

Re: Damn the expense Mid Atlantic IPA
The only thing to be aware of when doing this is that if fully frozen the cell walls will have ruptured and the hops turn to debris in the boil. You will still get the benefit of them but just remember to settle post boil plenty to let your hop bed settle to catch the hop debris. if you do it with the hops that have been used but stored in the fridge then its no problem as the hops stay whole. I don't have problem with it either way but thought i'd highlight it.

Hi,
Looks Like a great recipe! One for the top of my 'todo' list...
I have ordered some grains which should arrive early next week!
Great tip about reusing the hops from dry hoping...
Cheers!

Hi PM recipe looks scrummy. Is the 10 hour mash a typo though? Should that read 1 hour?pantsmachine wrote: 10 hour mash, 90 minute boil and a 90 minute settle and chill.

Beersmith or beer engine is the way forward for you. Good luck with the recipe.
