Anyone got a closer recipe for......

Post by pas8280 » Tue Dec 21, 2010 5:08 pm

Deuchars IPA I have tried Graham's and Hop and Grapes recipe's both turned out exceedingly well but both missed that something that Deuchars has.
If I get a favourable response I will have a go at v3 tomorrow

Hi Paul

Are you using Marris Otter - Try using Golden Promise instead. Late hop with Willamette as well as Styrian Golding.

What yeast are you using?

I doubt there will be any great difference with changing the Pale malt... though thats just my opinion.
Maybe some Fuggles in the Finish with the Styrians, and served through a Sparkler. (and probably drunk Fresh, no more than 3 weeks from Pitching to Pint)

That's not entirely fair, Deuchars used to be a great beer, but more and more people seem to agree it's been dumbed down in recent years.

I made a pale ale once and dumped in loads and loads of fuggles at the end of the boil and it came out tasting very like Deuchars IPA - I also think the Golden Promise idea is a good one.
