I used to lift 10 gallons of hot wort every week before I got a pump, it's what made me the man I am today

Should be a good one, very interesting hop combo

Hopefully not a scalded/scarred one...

The recipe looks good, I see why you have given it that name... I gave my most recent brw a similarly (loosely) related name - It was a Vienna lager and the brewday went smoothly ( Ifinished ahead of the time I allowed myself) so I called it 'Rapid Wien' which is also the name of a local Association football club...

I have a cunning 'pun' in mind for my next brew (an Oktoberfest) too.... : :=P

Cheers!

Chilling down and a looot of gunk.

Ended up with 29L @ 1053. Would have boiled down a bit but one of my elements packed it in half way through the boil, :(

Glad to be back at it though.

the recipe looks a lot like my malt bills over the last few brews, using up odds and ends... usually turn out to be great :)

Just tried this, its down to 1017 it should get down to 1012-13.

The malt backbone is great, but the hops are a bit odd.

don't worry. apollo and summit are very strange when young... with a few weeks conditioning it will fruit up nicely.

What yeast did you use?

I used 2x US-05. Would have used WLP001, as I like it a bit better, but I had no spraymalt for the starter.

I tend to think US-05 squeezes out an extra point or two of attenuation.

What are the hops like ? Onion ?

Yeah Oniony sort of garlic savoury sort of thing, would be a decent way of describing it. Its not something I have experienced in a hop before, they certainly did not smell like that out of the pack.

Hope they improve....

Yeah the US-05 does finish a wee bit drier.

Dry hopped one is infected. Non dry hopped one is average, wont be using summit again.
