bottles priming

Post by pongobilly » Thu Mar 01, 2007 12:13 pm

my bottles have been in the warm priming for 6 days now, how much longer do they stay in the warm before moving to the cool, and when can i crack one open to see if my efforts have been rewarded

They should be fine to move into the cool now pb
All priming sugars should have been used by the yeast.
You can crack one of your beers open at any time you like, they are yours after all :)
Be prepared though for a beer, which although it should be drinkable, will not be at its best.
Another two to three weeks will give the yeast time to clear up the beer a little more.
The flavour will improve and the conditioning gas will dissolve more readily into the beer 8)
Patience is the rarest ingredient in brewing and as an ingredient a little can improve a beer a lot

Say's me who has to brew shed loads to give some beer time to mature
Guess I should really practice what I preach

I found the trying a bottle a week realy informative, as I learnt, the difference between weeks 3 and 4 made a HUGE difference to the flavour profile.
I know this is you first brew but if you can leave aside 4-5 smaller bottles to carry on the weekly taste test, into 8-9 weeks you will learn all good things come to he who waits. And if you don't there is always next time

That reminds me I have 5l of my first brew(Wherry), that I bottled mid december waiting for me when I get home end of this month. Should taste good(heres hoping)

I put my bottles in the garage for at least 6 weeks before sampling. Not sure but is 15C a little warm.
