e mail complaints re Muntons/Woodefordes stuck ferments to..

Aparrently Muntons also make Woodfordes so complaints about either to the above address.

Spoke to guy in Local HBS regarding stuck ferments today, not news to him either, he's had a few complaints (one stuck on him also!) he blames the yeast. (personally I think it's the Malt extract as I've had two stick using Safale 04)

HBS Guy suggested we send our complaints to the above e mail address. he also said he'd complained on behalf of some customers who'd had the same issue but apparently Muntons said first they'd heard of it..... lets not make it the last!

Started a Brupacks kit off today, let's see if this sticks Thrashed the Sh1t out of it with a plaster stirrer on end of power drill. Aeration is not an issue for sure this time

Sounds a similar situation to mine.
Munton's Wherry stuck, next brew was a brupaks fixby gold via drill aeration - it's manly work this brewing!

I've brewed a number of muntons kits, from the Woodfordes and "Gold" ranges and never yet suffered a problem of any kind. Another of my favourite Nelson's Revenge goes into the bucket tomorrow, I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Looks like your getting something right, but there's plenty of people on here having/had issues. I checked your other post where you go through your technique. Sound similars to what I've done in the past except I always check my rehydration water temp (25-30oC) and use half a campden tablet in my water instead of filtering it. I too have dropped the water onto the wort from a height but now I'm trying stirring with a paddlle in a cordless drill.

Your problem may be the campden tablet. Unless you leave it for at least 24 hours are putting in a campden tablet it will kill the yeast. If youare putting the campden tablet into the water just to make up your yeast, it is definitely overkill.

Campden tablets do their thing in 24 hours and then dissipate, but you must NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES add yeast before then.[/b]

I only add half a tablet to 5 gallons of water, not to the water I rehydrate the yeast in. I've also only adopted this method on the last couple of brews and the ones I did prior to adopting this also stuck....
However It would be no problem treating the water 24 hours in advance of brew day so I could try this to see it it helps

I've had a Muntons kit and recently a woodfordes kit stall on me, my fermenting temps are perfect (steady 21 deg C) Thanks for the email address, have e-mailed them, i'll let you know what happens although i'm not holding out much hope.

get the feeling their hoping if they ignore it it will go away.......

I'm gonna try yeast vit and loads of aeration, if that dosn't work on my last two kits in the cupboard. I'll vote with my feet!

Just done a Brupak kit, it hasn't stuck. It's the first none Woodfordes kit I've done and first one that hasn't stuck......

Having had stuck fermentation on two of the three Woodford's kits that I've made, all different, I've emailed James Smith today. As they aint exactly cheap kits to buy, you'd think they'd be reliable.
