Hello all. Would anyone be interested in starting up an amateur brewing club for brewers in newcastle and surrounding areas.
I have been all grain brewing for a number of years with great results and have expanded the hobby by building my own home bar serving real ales from a cornie to friends and family. Unfortunately for me, my 22 year old son and his mates love the stuff and drink it quicker than i can brew it, but there ya go, its all about sharing. Anyway back to the idea of a brewing club.
I have no idea where to start so im really just tinkering with the idea and hoping for some input from members of this forum. I have noticed that there are quite a few brewers from this area use this forum and to be honest. it would be nice to meet up as and when to share ideas and brews. Our local residents association have a "hut" where i could look into using as a meeting place for the NEWCASTLE and DISTRICT BREWERS CLUB or whatever. There wouldnt be any cost to use the club and we could organise brew days in the club in between sampling beer. I have a few friends who arent brewers yet but would like to sample the brews and start up themselves. Maybe meet once a month or once a quarter. We could even start regional brewing competitions. I am based in Kenton in Newcastle, about 10 minute drive from newcastle city centre.
I mentioned before that i was only tinkering with the idea but the more i type, the more i intend to see this happen. It will not happen until early next year, maybe around march 2010.
I know its early days but if anyones up for it please let me know. Im serious abot this and have a lot of time on my hands due to my wifes illness. I had to give up work and become her full time carer about 3 years ago and the opportunty to meet other brewers and to step up a gear in a hobby that i love would be great. Many thanks for taking the time to read this and hope to hear from anyone interested. Cheers, Prost, Ken. aka carpet19.

Re: Newcastle amateur brewers.
hi there!,
i have just registered to this club and have just started home brewing for the very first time and have taken a very keen interest in it. I am also from kenton in newcastle, and would also be interested in a local brew club with tips and advice.
cheers, Mark.

I'll be interested if anything starts. I'm returning to brewing after an absence due to other situations. Planned my first two kits already.
