A fridge is meant to be between 2 and 8 I think, any more or less than that and we have to adjust the fridge (at work for insulin).

EE; Note I said I have the 'Fridge Thermometer' in this room. This room is Not a fridge. I do not keep Insulin. Nor do I even bother with this damn thing in my fridge anymore ~ completely pointless as my fridge, being a fridge, doesn't take any notice of what the thermometer says. It just makes sh!t cold, or not, as is its whim. Fridge. Not thermometer.

Mine's a " Brannan " (Fridge Thermometer). Probably some piece of sh!t I picked up somewhere in town. I have no faith in it. It's just a little novelty for me, to look at and mention in posts, now and then.

Why are we even discussing fridge temperatures? Damned if I know. Too slaughtered.

Make beer. Drink beer. Talk rubbish! =D>

Bottled this bad boy at the weekend, with some Black Sabbath as my brewing music (Black Sabbath, geddit?). I don't remember seeing any hydrometer readings here, so I'll give mine. Someone might find them useful.

OG: 1.048
FG: 1.010

And just to recap, I used 1kg amber spraymalt and 200g unrefined sugar in addition to the kit.

Goulders; I'm happy that you're happy :D

Paddy Bubbles; That's about what I'd expect ~ if I could be bothered to keep checking

Just a bit of news I'd like to record here, for posterity, as it were: I picked up my fourth heater / 'stat today. Long story short? Local Creamery's got a new lad in, from another branch. He's brought his 'pet' speciality of fish with him. And some older, unsellable stock.

Part of this was an all in, 'Tropical Fish Keeping Kit In A Box' effort. Blaahdy blah ..... 75 Watt, German made heater / 'stat. 17.50 Euro's!!!

..... They reckon they might be able to save his hand!

Shane ....? Tell Olga to expect a tapless FV stitched onto my next, regular order. And an extra kit and K of malt too!

Well, sadly i`m down to my last pint or 2 of stout. I know i should of had a nother brew going so i could simple top up my keg once it got emptied but i`m a lazy git and will have to wait a little longer now! its been great having a good drink simply on tap. In fact if anything, a little to handy! I love just going into the dining room and help myself to pint or 3 on a night. Its so much better that cans or bottles. Right, gonna put another one asap, once again thankyou Ditch fora great recipe, and all your help. Think i will have one of these on the go at all times! :D

I just put one on. :)

1 tin coopers stout, 1kg medium spray malt, water to 20 litres, coopers yeast. Instead of Ditch's mug of sugar I used 1/3rd of a bottle of burnt sugar solution BP that expired 5 and a half years ago I nicked from work.

Hong; You'll get there, mate  Just take it easy and build up ye 'kit' as the finances allow.

Ye obviously own a Keg and a FV. Fish tank heater's great. But, soon now they'd be a bit redundant, as the ambient temperatures rise. Maybe spend the cost of one of those on a second BK and FV?

Frankly? If ye drink like a fish ~ as I do ~ then three or four Kegs / FV's should see ye alright. This is because we simply don't Need to leave our 'Ditch's' / Coopers sitting about for ever before it becomes drinkable.

I roll with three, at the moment. Fourth FV's 'in the post'. I have BK's standing around, waiting to be used for the first time. One day, after I've bought maybe half a dozen more FV's and heaters, I'll end up with so much beer in production, I'll be able to hold kegs back and drink six week old beer.

Convinced it'll taste any better than the one I'm drinking now? No, frankly. Not if this one wasn't 9C and thus as cold and tasteless as a pub bought Guinness :( One of these days, I'll build myself a thermostatically controlled BK storage / serving cupboard. Then I can enjoy optimum temp'd beer, even in the cold season :D

See, Hong? We all look forward to 'better'. There's always something more we can do to improve our drinking experience. It usually involves waiting till the funding becomes available. And then we can truly appreciate that next step.

Having Heater / Stat & FV #4 at hand will mean I'll be able to brew enough beer, at a single action, to last me a good month. Get 5, 6 sorted? I'll be able to build up a back log. Something maturing. A back up against having 'A Bad Week' when I fall behind schedule.

One step at a time, my friend

Alright boys. For those you who had the cheek to bottle your "Ditch's", how long did it take to condition in the bottle?

About 6 weeks. But you
could drink it after 2.

'cos if it's in bottles, it ain't a proper Ditch's.

It won't hurt to have a sneaky taste. That way you can make your own judgement.
