A fresh cup of..

(That's water to the rest of us!) Beer is about 95% water, so if you want to discuss water treatment, filtering etc this is the place to do it!

A fresh cup of..

Was talking to my dad the other day as he is a lapsed brewer and he was telling me that i must add a single cup of strong black tea to the wort before pitching, he swears by it, but i'm not sure if it'd do anything. Are there any benifits to this that anyone has heard of, i can't imagine that there would be any negative outcomes to doing it, but i was just curious..

It will add tannin, I do this when I make TC, but I dont think tannin is really a thing you want in your beer.
In fact people try avoid extracting tannin in the mashing process.

Or you could try coffee. It might sober you up as you drink...

Ask him again what purpose it served, I'm thinking it'll have made kits better or made up for hops that aren't that fresh, but I'm not so sure it's relevant these days.
