Another JBK member meeting in Cambridge

Post by jubby » Thu Mar 03, 2011 7:54 pm

Friday 25th March, 8pm in the Kingston Arms: http://www.kingston-arms.co.uk/

Thornbridge Jaipur on tap permanently at the moment!

Bring a sample and let us know what it's going to be. Mine will probably be Simcoe IPA or maybe Reverend's Extra (depends which one is best!) either way it will be (in the words of Maltloaf) breakfast beer
Mr Nick's Brewhouse.

Thermopot HLT Conversion

Drinking: Mr Nick's East India IPA v3 First Gold & Citra quaffing ale
Conditioning:
FV:
Planned: Some other stuff.

Should be there. Maybe this time I'll bring the Belgian Blonde. Now the cornie's nearly empty it's coming out clear and good, tsk. And that's not impatient, it's been there 14 weeks!

Also, I'm thinking of raising the group brew topic again. The results of T6's nearly-White-Shield experiment were so educational I think we should do it again with another style. Get your arguments/ideas together!

Cheers,
ML.

I'l be there. Not sure if I'll have any beer. I actually listen to you guys and I've been persuaded to give water treatment a go. Being a proudly unreconstructed brewer I'm working up to this gradually and its hardly my fault if Andrews Liver Salts are not a direct or even close substitute for Epsom Salts. but I'm working on it but I may not get there in time.

As for a style can I suggest brewing with Andrews Liver Salts.......

I'll be there, not sure whether to inflict a lager or stout on you poor fellows, or indeed both  :-D Saying that I must check how much is in the cornies and perhaps get both bottled this weekend; the lager is just becoming clear, and as Maltloaf attested to, we all know what that means!!!

Good stuff Raiderman, my beers came on leaps and bounds after following GWs water treatment calc to the letter!

My I suggest a group brew that'll really show up differences in our set-ups and procedures- a single hopped bitter with the same malts and the same yeast starter with ingredients all from the same source / batch?

Cheers,
Jamie

Great idea, the last experiment was a real education. I found a bottle of the old White Shield a week ago and it had aged very well.........all gone now though :(

draft bass used to be known for the quality of the farts produced. Should you go for a fartin' bitter competition I may well be setting the pace.....

I'll be there. I finally made a decent sub 4% brew, so i might bring that along. Also got a red ale maturing with lots of Amarillo and Apollo hops in it. If that is ready i may bring that instead/as well.

I'm up for another group experiment, anything that means i can use up some of my last ingredients order in would be nice, cos i had loads of brewdays planned when it arrived but i've only managed one!
Drinking: Double IPA (Mr President Clone)
Drinking: London Porter (5%)
Drinking: Belgian Dubbel (8%)
Conditioning: West Coast Red (5.6%)
Conditioning: Nelson & Friends Series No.1 (Mosaic)
FV: A few spiders
Planning: Everything else!

Glad to see you all brewing and having fun. Unfortunately I will be missing this meet. We are currently in Northern Tuscany heading south.

I will see if i can find a decent local beer and at least join you in spirit by opening it on the brew meet date.

Happy drinking

Steve

You could recreate your last appearance by finding a nice local brew and using it to wash down some Coconut Macaroons :D

Not sure I'll bring anything. Andrews liver Salts doesn't improve an ale, its a bit one dimensional so I won't inflict that on you. My other beer since christmas is a london pride kit the kids gave me which has a pronounced crystal malt flavour and probably needs time to mellow. My first genuine water treated brew is still fermenting, it tasted glorious on pitching, and I have high hopes, but it won't be ready for Friday!
