Springtime

Post by Naich » Sat Mar 26, 2011 11:09 pm

Next weekend's brew. Having made some really nice beers with Cascade and Citra, I'm going for the full fruit salad here with lemony citrus and lychee. Any comments welcome.

A fruit salad, using up the remains of some Citra I have to add a hint of passion fruit. Although brewed in springtime, this is named after the song by Leatherface.

It might be better. The hops are the stars in this one and you don't really want much malt flavour to distract from them. I actually dropped the crystal when I made it yesterday, and just used MO. The recipe ended up being:

Malt/Fermentables:
1. Pale Malt - Marris Otter (5 EBC) : 5090 g (100%)

Hops/flavourings:
1. Styrian Goldings - AA 7.2 - (90 min) : 16.6 g (17%)
2. Styrian Goldings - AA 7.2 - (30 min) : 23.1 g (24%)
3. Citra - AA 13.8 - (15 min) : 11.5 g (12%)
4. Cascade - AA 5.5 - (15 min) : 23.5 g (24%)
5. Cascade - AA 5.5 - (1 min) : 23.1 g (24%)
