"How many 8 hour brewdays have you done? It only automates part of the system"

My brewdays are generally 5hr tops, and 2 hours of the 5 are described below.

This machine automates the part where I currently go make a nice filter coffee, play a few levels of a game, or write garbage here !! LOL

So it automates a boil ? do I need to stand over my boiler watching it boil for an hour ? do I need to stand over the closed lid of my mashtun for 60 mins ..... exactly, automates what ?.

I'm sure there is some technical / temperature'y science (crap) in there somewhere, but, If it brewed beer where everyone else failed, i'd fly over and pick the thing up in person, there is a plus point though ...... It has a "luvly control panal on it wiv buttens and lites", come on ....

It cant sparge as I do, as small as 2.5 ltr batches, and costs 8 or so (give or take) fold of my gear ?

For the cost, do they include a person to clean it afterwards to, that still needs doing, for 2 grand I want it to wipe its own .... and mine for that matter LOL.

Lastly, if anyone can post the list of bespoke spares that would only fit this specific machine, and the postage costs of such it would seal all doubts i'm sure.

have fun, lee

This is from an American site:

http://www.homebrewtalk.com/f14/speidel ... er-229225/

And there are links to some very long threads in that topic included from other countries too.

They seem to be getting quite a following.

Yep, ive just read through 2 pages of the link, alot spoken of "excessive" cost, and the sparge option on it, that looks a bit of a crap idea tbh, if you support the whole grain basket up then you are rinsing through the grain "dry" unlike where i sparge mine in a small bath of recycling wort, and if your only sparging through "dry" grain, its not sparging the whole area of it all is it ?

To gimmciky, to expensive, and not really a good idea, doesnt automate anything apart from the time i relax in a brewday anyway - hmmm, automated boil and sparge water heating ? ...... 2 odd grand ? .... shiney though .... nuff said.

I have worked with Hop & Grape brewery for couple of years.
Got myself the Speidel in september and I am not looking back.

If you are not into DIY, have limited space for brewing and £ to spend then go for the Braumeister !

Its not 2 grand its 1300 and if you read the long US thread through it is very well thought of. Small footprint, electic with computer controlled programmer.
If you have the money its the way to go!

Hi,

I am thinking of getting the 50l set up.

Can someone who has one please measure the height from bottom of the unit to the top of the malt tube when its draining please?

Does it have any sort of hop blocker?

Any problems when draing the wort out through the tap?

Many thanks

Will
