Holts bitter

Post by bettyswallocks » Sun Mar 11, 2007 10:29 am

Remember about 20 years ago, made up a kit with me old fella. Kwoffit bitter (don't think they make it anymore), extra malt extract and boiled up a mix of golding and fuggles hops. It came out the nearest thing I have ever drank to Holts bitter, which I drank all the time when i lived in Salford.
cheers :D :D

Get one ordered, make it up like you and your old fella did and relive your youth :)

My old man could be used in place of bittering hops.

My socks can be used in place of aroma hops.

I think it would end up more in the lambic style tho.

I don't know about you, but i find the concept of lambic beer rather horrible.

I rather enjoy it occasionally , why horrible ? because you dont like the taste or you dont like the idea? its the same concept as sour dougth bread or yogurt, wild ferment wine.

I dunno, i guess it's the control freak in me coming out. I like to know precisely which microbes are making the changes i want, rather than it's one or many of 80 odd.
